Nontoxic Holiday Nail Guide for Women of All Ages

one  .  two  .  three  .  four  .  five  .  six  .  seven

A fresh manicure can elevate your look and make you feel polished (literally!)  It's like adding an extra accessory to your outfit.  Typically, I like to wear neutral and classic shades, such as solid creme colors in light pinks and nudes.  And I do enjoy the white and gray polish trends that I feel anyone of any age can wear.  But when it comes to the holidays, a festive polish can add a bit of glam to any outfit.  Today, I've picked out some stylish colors that a woman of any age can try out during the holidays.  As a bonus, these polishes are more eco-friendly than most, so you can feel better about using them.

This Korean-inspired beef dish will get dinner on the table in 30 minutes. An original HelloFresh recipe from November 2016,, this quick and easy meal is easy to replicate even when it's not on the meal plan. To save time, we also Dietary Ginger Vitality Essential Oil distilled by Young Living in place of the ginger thumb.  One drop is all you need in the recipe.  On a side-note, we've also used Teriyaki sauce in place of soy sauce if we were out of soy sauce when making this recipe.  We believe the secret ingredient in this dish though is the hoisin sauce. Tips For Women Determined To Stay Fit And Energized, No Matter What Their Age

If hot flashes and night sweats weren’t enough, many women who reach their menopause years have an additional adversary to contend with.

They experience weight gain around the belly and waist, and they quickly learn it’s a struggle to do anything about it.

“Somewhere around menopause, many women find their clothes becoming a size too small,” says Mache Seibel, M.D., a leading American expert on menopause and author of The Estrogen Window

Tips to Stay Fit and Energized at Any Age

“Why is that? Is it simply an aging issue or is it directly related to menopause and the lack of estrogen?”

Seibel says that part of the problem behind what some people call the “middle-age spread” is visceral fat that lies deep within the abdominal cavity, and is different from the subcutaneous fat that lies directly under the skin. Visceral fat (Seibel says it could just as well be called “vicious fat”) can contribute to a host of diseases that increase the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, joint disease and type 2 diabetes.

A large number of studies, he says, show that postmenopausal women have greater amounts of visceral fat compared to premenopausal women. One contributing reason is the natural decline of estrogen levels in the body.

And, of course, health problems aren’t the only concern when weight gain starts happening.
“Studies show that being overweight or obese is more than a medical issue,” Seibel says. “It also affects quality of life and self-esteem.”

Seibel suggests that women who want to control the accumulation of visceral fat should explore a regimen that combines diet and exercise efforts with estrogen therapy. Specifically, he says:

• Discuss with your physician the possibility of taking estrogen at the opening of your “estrogen window.” “That will offer the easiest and best solution to controlling an expanding waistline and living a fit and energized life,” Seibel says. The “estrogen window” represents the ideal time to begin estrogen replacement. The window opens the moment a woman enters menopause. Exactly when it closes is more difficult to determine, Seibel says. Generally, it’s a 10-year time frame, but that can vary and women should have ongoing discussions with their physicians, he says.

 • Increase your fresh fruit and vegetable consumption by adding two or three more servings to your daily diet. Broccoli, string beans and cauliflower are good choices for vegetables, and fermented foods such as kimchi and sauerkraut also are recommended.

• Work up to walking 10,000 steps a day. You don’t need to train for a marathon or an Ironman competition to establish a good fitness routine, Seibel says. But by simply injecting a little walking into your daily routine, you help create a healthier you.

• Lowering stress and improving sleep also contribute to feeling better and staying trim.

“Having a fit body and maintaining consistent energy levels in midlife isn’t easy,” Seibel says. “Yes, nature and time are working against you. But doing nothing isn’t an option. That’s why it’s important to create habits and set goals you can stick with. Time spent on you isn't lost; it's invested.”

And the ROI is a healthier, happier and more vibrant life.

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Phytotherapy Research found that inhalation of clary sage oil had the ability to reduce cortisol levels by 36% and improved thyroid hormone levels (TSH). The study was done on 22 post-menopausal women in their 50’s, some of which were diagnosed with depression and at the end of the trial the researchers stated that “clary sage oil had a statistically significant effect on lowering cortisol and had an anti-depressant effect improving mood”. The biggest benefit of clary sage is that studies show it helps balance out estrogen production in the body.

We all know Betty Crocker isn't real, but regardless, this fictional character has developed countless recipes for more than 90 years. We found three Betty Crocker recipes that help todday's modern family get dinner on the table quickly.

With this Betty Crocker recipe, pork tenderloin doesn't have to be a Sunday night meal. You can get this recipe on the table in 50 minutes. If you don't have fresh lemons on hand, we have the a recipe substitute, we suggest adding one drop of Young Living's Lemon Dietary Vitality Oil to the maple syrup mixture. Young Living's Vitality Dietary Oils are great staples for your pantry.

Jerk Chicken with Sweet Potatoes

This Better Crocker recipe also uses sweet potatoes, but you can have your jerk chicken with any potato you would like. If you your children like roasted new potatoes then go for it.  But what we do suggest is using Young Living's Ginger, Dietary Essential Oil in place of that hard to peel Gingerroot. You will need just one drop and you'll save yourself loads of time.

Tuscan Chicken and Vegetables

Grab Your Fast And Go Healthy: Three Great Juice Recipes

“You can lose at least a pound a day, get rid of foggy brain, and recharge your energy,” says best-selling author and nutritionist Cherie Calbom, known as “The Juice Lady” for her expertise in juicing for health and detoxification

“Fasting is a great way to restart your metabolism, purify your lymphatic system, and revive your soul, ” says Calbom, author of the new book The Juice Lady’s Guide to Fasting. “It’s also a way to look younger, clear out the toxins, and restart the systems in your body for optimal health and physical well-being, and to bring restoration to your mind, bod, and spirit.”

People often think of fasting as a fad, she says, but it’s been touted throughout history – by the healer Hippocrates, the philosopher Plato, and scientist and statesman Benjamin
Franklin, just to name a few. Germany’s famous “fasting therapist,” Otto Buchinger Sr., M.D., called it an “operation without surgery.”

Even those who don’t believe in fasting’s curative powers agree it can help prevent illness. Want to fend off the flu, a cold or bronchitis? Fasting gives your immune system a boost.
“It’s a lot like a threefold spring cleaning, as you dive deep into the areas in your life that don’t always get the attention they need – mentally, physically and spiritually – and you clean them up,” Calbom says. “You rid yourself of toxic influences that hinder growth, clarity, and well-being, and refocus on the future.”

With a liquid fast, you give up solid foods, and enjoy delicious, nutrient-rich beverages. In her book, Calbom provides a variety of fasts to choose from including the smoothie fast, bone-broth fast, 3-day detox fast, and what she says is the most popular of all — the juice fast.  If you crave crunch, she offers the Garden of Eden Fast and the Daniel Fast.

“There’s something for everyone — from a short weekend weight loss fast to a 21-day rejuvenation fast,” she says.

If you’re a list maker (and who isn’t this time of year?), Calbom recommends writing down what you hope to achieve with your fast – losing belly fat, cleansing your liver or boosting your brain power, with brains detox juices for example – in order to find a fast that’s a good fit.

If you aren’t sure you can hack a liquid fast because you’ll crave flavor, think again. Here are three of Calbom’s favorite recipes, designed to taste great while doing good:
